What We Do

CASA volunteers are ordinary people just like you. They come from all walks of life, just like the children in foster care they help.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer gathers information from everyone involved in a child’s daily life, including members of the child’s family, foster parents, teachers, lawyers, social workers and other relevant persons.

Then, they report to a judge to advocate for the child’s best interest.

Become a CASA

What does a CASA Volunteer Do?

When a family is in crisis and becomes involved in the child welfare system, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer may be appointed by a judge to advocate for the child.

This highly trained volunteer is someone from the child’s community whose responsibility is to get to know the child and their family and advocate for their safety, permanency and well-being while in foster care. This is just one example of the difference a CASA volunteer can make in a child’s life.

Texas CASA Standard 4
